Queen Jones is the nine-year-old daughter of a successful African American married couple. She and her parents had a close and loving relationship.

That all changed one day when Queen woke up expecting to see her father, Charles, as she had always, but this time he wasn’t there.

This short story exhibits how a lack of open, and honest communication plays a part in the demise of some of our relationships. It also touches on why it’s important to collect all the facts before judging a person or situation, because sometimes things aren’t what they seem.
